Dress Code

Neatness and personal cleanliness are important for good health as well as social acceptance. Students are encouraged to choose modest and appropriate clothing for school attire. Hillcrest Central School is in the business of education and require our school community to dress appropriately.

The following clothing choices would be considered breaches of the appropriateness guideline:
Clothing (including hats and bandanas) which promotes alcohol, drugs, violence, racism or sexism, disrespect towards peers, teachers, school.
Clothing which exposes undergarments or is unduly revealing is not acceptable.
Shirts need to cover the midriff. (including enough extra to cover when seated or when a hand is raised)
All underclothing must be covered.
Tank top sleeves must be tight enough to avoid exposure of the chest.
Ball caps are to be removed within the school building (except for travelling to and from coat racks).

This is not intended to be exhaustive, but rather representative of our shared values. Students will be asked to change their clothing if it does not meet our dress code. If the student has no alternate clothing, acceptable clothing will be provided for the day.

The dress code must be adhered to while on class trips and other class activities, as well as while we are here at Hillcrest Central. It is important for parents and volunteers participating in school activities to respect our school policies, including our dress code.
